Advantages to CPO Programs
Certified Pre-owned models are known for having clean history reports and low-mileage. Depending on the automaker, specific criteria may vary, but the vehicles must meet these specifications or they will not make the cut as a CPO vehicle.
Multi point inspection
Generally, a CPO vehicle has gone through anywhere from 100 to 200 individual item checks and is approved by the time it goes on sale. At our Nissan dealership, our certified pre-owned program guarantees the vehicle being less than six years old from the original in-service date, having less than 80,000 miles on the odometer, having a clean and non-branded title, and must pass a comprehensive 167 points Certified Pre-Owned inspection test.
Extended Warranty Protection
Either the remainder of the new car warranty is transferred to the new owner or the CPO program will extend both the original basic and original powertrain warranty.
If you have a certified pre-owned program, you most likely have free 24-hour roadside assistance that lasts for the duration of the extended basic warranty coverage. In our case, we also offer up to $100 towing assistance (and if necessary, we’ll have your vehicle towed to the nearest Nissan dealer within 250 miles), up to 5 days car rental reimbursement at a maximum of $35/ a day for mechanical breakdown of covered components, trip interruption coverage, and ownership transfer-ability.
Low Interest Financing and Leasing
Certified Pre-owned vehicles can qualify for lower finance rates, typically equal to the loans offered on new vehicles. The lower interest rate can effectively lower the monthly payment for buyers. If you find yourself interested in driving a more expensive pre-owned vehicle, but cannot afford to purchase one, some auto companies will allow you to lease a certified pre-owned vehicle.
For a specific period of time and/or mileage limit, you can have free maintenance with a CPO program. This may only include oil changes and tire rotations according to the manufacturer’s recommended intervals and free inspections from the dealership, but it still cuts some costs.
Under a certain time frame and specific mileage limits, you may be able to bring the vehicle back and exchange it for a different vehicle, depending on the CPO program. While it’s not a money-back guarantee, it does allow for a one-time swap to find something that suits you much better.
